Another major contributing factor to burnout is the application of consequences that far outweigh the severity of a mistake. If your employees are constantly worried that a mistake will get them fired, they will suffer from elevated stress. They will also dread coming to work out of a fear of being disciplined for a minor error. You can avoid this situation by ensuring consequences are comparable to the mistake. Smaller punishments accompanied by a discussion that helps the employee learn from the experience can be more effective without leading to burnout.

Make an effort to involve your employees in the operations of your business and recognize them for their contributions. Additionally, you can organize social events, such as company picnics, to show your appreciation for your employees.
